International Calls Guide
Our direct dial services are straight-forward with no hidden charges or tricks to worry about. This page gives you more details on how they work and how to get the most out of them.
Using direct dial services is easy. Once you have seen our Country list and chosen the best direct dial number for the county you are calling, simply dial the access number given and wait for the voice prompt, dial the international number you are calling and then press the # key. NB. You do not have to wait for the voice prompt to finish - if you are alredy familiar with the service you can dial your international number as soon as the voice prompt starts.
That's it! And if you use our service regularly you can configure your phone for one-touch dialing (see below).
All direct dial services such as 07744 and our 0870, 0871 and other direct dial numbers work on the same basis. The access number generates a payment for each call which is enough to cover the cost of your international connection. The access call will be either free (e.g. 07744 5888 44), or will be charged by the service provider for the phone line you are calling from, in which case this cost should still represent better balue than you would get if you called direct without using our services.
For convenience, you can store your Dial Easy 07744 number in front of the numbers you call most often on your mobile phone. Here are notes on how to do this for most types of mobile phone. If you have different phone please refer to the user manual.
On a Nokia phone: Step 1 Enter the Dial Easy 07744 number; Step 2 Press * 3 times to show "p" (this causes dialling to pause) ; Step 3 Enter your destination number, including the full international code) e.g. 08449 883 000 p 001 XXXX XXXX.
On a Seimens or Panasonic phone: Step 1 Enter the Dial Easy 07744 number; Step 2 Press and hold "0" to show "+" (this causes dialling to pause) ; Step 3 Enter your destination number, including the full international code) e.g. 08449 883 000 + 001 XXXX XXXX.
On a Motorola or Ericsson phone : Step 1 Enter the Dial Easy 07744 number ; Step 2 Press and hold to show "p" (this causes dialling to pause) ; Step 3 Enter your destination number, including the full international code) e.g. 08449 883 000 p 001 XXXX XXXX.
First check the country list and see which services apply to the country you are calling. If the service provider you are using to make your call has different policies on different types of contract (e.g. Vodafone allows calls to 07744 numbers on most, but not all, contracts) the most sure way to check if yours is OK is to make a quick test call and either 1) check your onlne billing to see if the call has been charged or 2) phone you service provider on the support numbers given below to see if the call has been charged.
Service provider support numbers are:
There are many different tariffs so we cannot always be certain that all contracts are covered at the rate indicated. If you have any doubt please contact your service provider or make a test call as above before using the service for a long call.
There are a few other things to bare in mind. As we've said, you must have inclusive minutes to benefit from free calls with our direct dial services for mobiles. Pay-as-you-go customers will be charged by their provider for the call so you should check how much. You should check with the person who owns the phone before you make the call (if it is not you).
You should also come back to this regularly just to check the destination list has not changed - we are adding new destinations all the time, and very occasionally have to remove countries as well.
